We at 64 Oz. Games are committed to accessibility and we will be producing add-ons for existing board games that allow blind and visually impaired players to play a wide variety of games. These will require the original game to play but will allow anyone who knows braille to play games they previously couldn’t.

We will be creating a store on this website where you will be able to buy print on demand versions of these titles so that yourself, or your visually impaired friends can use braille to play games together. We have recently run a Kickstarter and hope to have a store open this fall to sell these accessibility kits.

This is thanks to our backers!

Our products will allow existing games to be accessible to the blind. This is the same way that Seedlings and Bookshare can reproduce entire texts for people with print disabilities.

Our products will meet the requirements of the relevant section of copyright law, 17 U.S.C. § 121:

“…it is not an infringement of copyright for an authorized entity to reproduce or to distribute copies of a previously published, nondramatic literary work if such copies are reproduced or distributed in specialized formats exclusively for use by blind or other persons with disabilities.”

  • Copies may not be reproduced or distributed in a format other than a specialized format exclusively for use by blind or other persons with disabilities.
  • Must bear a notice that any further reproduction or distribution in a format other than a specialized format is an infringement.
  • Must include a copyright notice identifying the copyright owner and the date of the original publication.
  • “Specialized formats” means Braille, audio, or digital text which is exclusively intended for use by blind or other persons with disabilities.
Again purchase of the actual game would be required to make these sleeves playable.
Our products in no way will hurt the original publishers of the games. What we are doing is opening them up to a new market. If the original publisher wishes to create their own accessible version of a game we would quickly and promptly pull our sleeves for that title from the market if asked when the accessible version is available.
