Theme

You have a patch of land. You are sure if you look hard enough there has to be something worthwhile buried there. You will look and try to discover the riches that lie beneath.

Object

Be the player with the lowest point totals. The game continues over a series of rounds until one player reaches 100 or more points. When this happens the player with the lowest point total wins!

Set Up

Shuffle the cards and deal each player 12 cards. They should be place in a grid with 3 rows and 4 columns. Place the remaining cards to form a draw pile. 

Game Play

To start the round each player chooses two of their cards and adds them together. The player who's number is the highest starts. If 

To begin, every player randomly picks two cards out of their 12 to flip over.  The highest card total will be the start player. If there is a tie, the first tied player left of the dealer starts. The cards stay face up. On each player’s turn, they choose one of 2 actions:

Turn Order

1. Take from the discard.

If a player decides to take from the discard they exchange one of their 12 cards with the card showing in the discard. If the player picked a face down card, it is not looked at before choosing but will be placed face up in the discard.

2. Take a card from the draw pile to exchange or discard. 

If a player decides to take this action they take and look at a card from the top of the draw deck and may choose to exchange it for one of the cards in front of them or just discard it. 

If they choose to exchange it with a card that was face down to exchange with the drawn card, the face down card is placed face up in the discard pile and the card the player drew is placed face up in the location that it was at. 

If they choose to exchange it with a card that is face up, the face up card is placed in the discard and like before the card they drew is put in it's place

If instead the player chooses not to keep the drawn card at all it is placed on the discard pile and then that player picks one of their face down cards to reveal. This is the end of the turn and play continues clockwise. 

Set Rule:  If the player reveals or has three of the same number in a vertical row, that player discards the entire row of three cards into the discard pile, lessening the total score of the player.  

Game ends when one player reveals all of their 12 cards. Each other player has one more turn.  

Points

If the player who ended the round by revealing their last card does not have the least amount of points when others reveal all of their cards, that player doubles his points obtained in that round.  

This rule only applies to positive points on the players area and does not include negative points and zeroes.  

Each player sums their points on all 12 cards, both the face down and face face. This score is added to their previous score. 

Winning of the Game 

The game ends when one player reaches a score of 100 points or more. At this point the player who has the lowest score wins the game
